Life - Not as scary as FB Makes it out to be!

Facebook recently said they're putting up a 'Dislike' button. I think that's the sanest thing that channel has done in the longest time! At least, hopefully, it will stop people getting emotionally held for ransom...! You know, the posts where people put up photographs of God, or a picture of dying kids and fighting soldiers and emotionally blackmail the reader into liking them.

It just doesn’t make sense! Prayers and feeling for the poor don't come by emotional blackmail! What’s the big deal if I click on the ‘Like’ button? Will it bring God into my life? Will it provide clean water or good food to that poor beggar-child?

NO! That's all you get. A Big, Fat 'NO'. And a Big Fat You, as you stay stuck to that computer screen with no exercise or fresh air.

And the worst part? Yeah, the guilt. There comes this great, sentence full of confidence which boasts that NOBODY will like their post because it's ONLY about poor people, whereas (as they put it), 'There will be thousands who will 'Like' the videos of dancing girls and silly stories...’

Jealous, huh?

Absolutely, social awareness is an important issue. I do not deny it. But floating these pictures and paintings is not going be any good. If you really care, join an NGO, or spread messages about how you can actually help these people. Talk about what these Soldiers have done for us. Get up and do something to educate that little street-child.

Do something!

And oh, yes. When it comes to God, I’d rather not disrespect my religion by ‘Liking’ the photos of all the deities put up on show. Needless to say, most of the photographs have been taken from places where photography inside the temple is banned.

The caption ‘Rare photo’ is not good enough anymore, buddy. Try a little honesty, such as, ‘I disrespected the temple and took this photograph’.

Because, photography is not allowed inside these temples for a reason. It's because persons who do not belong to the same religion sometimes place these photographs in inappropriate places without meaning to (there have been really weird cases of Lord Ganesha's picture being printed on footwear and undergarments.. Footwear, okay... I can understand. But undergarments, really?!! Do you really need 'Divine Intervention' there? *shudder*).

By providing these photographs freely on the internet, you are completely making void the temples’ attempts to respect the religion’s sentiments.

It’s about time people stopped ‘Liking’ and instead, started ‘Doing’.

There’s a huge world out there. Go on, live it. It’s not as scary as FB makes it out to be all the time. At the worst, you can only get your wallet stolen (Kidding!! Just kidding!)!

Make a difference. Because, trust me, no ‘Like’ ever did.
